Land Management










Land management is the process by which the resources of land are put into good effect. ; Improvement in the management of land is essential for the betterment of both rural and urban poor. Without the ownership development is impossible; may lead to urban blight due to inefficient management of land.

Sustainable land management” has been defined as “a system of technologies and/or planning that integrate ecological with socio-economic and political principles in the management of land for agricultural and other purposes to achieve intra- and inter generational equity”.


Why Sustainable Land Management is required?
1.       Population Growth and Urban sustainability;
2.       Land Degradation;
3.       Decreasing Arable Land;
4.       Drought;
5.       Decreasing Water Resources & Ground Water Level;
6.       Increasing Soil Erosion and Contamination;
7.       Dust Storms & Floods;
Increasing Water & Air Pollution in both urban and rural


Loss of Green Cover
1.      Per capita Distribution of open space;
2.      Based on Equity;
3.      Proximity and hierarchy based distribution
4.      Increased Ecological footprint.
